Ella Frank has managed to combine some heart breaking turmoil with some fun and sexy light moments. Lena has been trapped in a bubble of her own making for the past 9 years. Lena’s sister died in a car crash where Lena was the driver. Ever since that happened, Lena has protected herself by closing herself off.
Mason Langley is the hottest new chef in town. He’s attracted to Lena and won’t take no for an answer.
There were parts of this story that I loved and parts that I hated. First, what I loved. I loved Mason. He’s lighthearted, casual, and determined. He wants Lena and he’s determined to win her over. I loved Mason’s family! They are perfect! His mom is awesome and his sister makes me laugh.
What I hated. Lena. I could not stand Lena. She was a royal Bitch with a capital B. Now, she did grow on me. By the end of the book I liked her and I was pulling for her. But for most of the book, I was thinking, Why? Why is Mason putting up with her?
There were moments in the book where I found Lena likable. For example. The Peaches. I’ve always loved peaches. But after reading this, I have a new found appreciation for peaches. Takes the term Georgia Peach to a WHOLE new level!
Mason is an amazing character. He quite obviously saw something in Lena that I didn’t see until the end. He was everything Lena needed him to be and more. The ending nearly ripped me in half. I couldn’t believe they were put in that untenable position. I was really rooting for them at that point in time and all I can say is, I’m glad it all worked out!
I’m looking forward to Entice. I think Dr. Munroe will meet her man-eating ways in that one!
